KVS Class 12 Biology Pre-Board Papers 2024-25 — All Regions, Free Download

Biology · Class XII

KVS has released Biology pre-board question papers from every region for 2024-25. Here's a full breakdown of the paper pattern, high-weightage topics, and direct download links — everything in one place.

Biology is one of those subjects where students often feel prepared — until they sit down with an actual question paper and realize how differently the concepts are being tested. That's exactly why KVS pre-board papers are such a valuable resource. They're designed by experienced teachers, mirror the CBSE board exam format precisely, and cover the chapters that examiners keep coming back to year after year.

This year, KVS has uploaded pre-board papers from all its regions in a single Google Drive folder. We went through over 23 files from that folder so you don't have to — here's everything that matters.

Official Google Drive folder maintained by KVS — contains question papers and at least one answer key from regions including Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, and more.

What's Inside the Folder?

The folder has over 23 files — mostly PDFs of question papers from different KVS regions, plus at least one detailed answer key from the Chennai region which is worth downloading separately. Every paper follows the standard Class XII Biology exam format set by CBSE.

The exam is divided into 5 sections (A to E) with a total of 33 questions across multiple formats — MCQs, assertion-reason, short answer, long answer, and case-based questions. Here's the structure at a glance:

Paper Structure at a Glance
Section Question Type No. of Questions Marks Each
Section AMCQ & Assertion-Reason161
Section BVery Short Answer52
Section CShort Answer73
Section DCase-Based Questions24
Section ELong Answer35
Total3370 Marks

Time allotted is 3 hours. Internal choices are available in sections C, D, and E — so even if one area of the syllabus feels weak, you have options.

"The Chennai answer key alone makes this folder worth downloading. It gives detailed value points for every section — perfect for self-assessment after attempting a paper."
Topics That Come Up in Every Region's Paper

After going through papers from Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Bhubaneswar, certain topics clearly dominate. If revision time is limited, start here:

01
Reproduction Human reproduction (ART methods — ICSI, GIFT, ZIFT), double fertilization, embryo sac, and apomixis appear across all regions.
02
Genetics & Molecular Biology Meselson-Stahl experiment, lac operon, pedigree analysis (haemophilia), chromosomal disorders — Down's and Turner's syndrome.
03
Biotechnology Vectors (pBR322, Ti plasmid), restriction enzymes, gel electrophoresis, Bt-toxin, gene therapy for ADA deficiency.
04
Ecology & Environment Logistic vs exponential growth, ecological pyramids (especially inverted biomass pyramid in sea), biodiversity hotspots.
05
Evolution Homologous vs analogous organs, types of natural selection (directional, stabilising, disruptive), adaptive radiation.
06
Human Health & Disease Immunity types (active, passive, CMI), malaria lifecycle, AIDS, drug abuse — opioids and cocaine.
💡 Preparation Tip Don't ignore the case-based questions in Section D — they carry 4 marks each and students routinely lose marks here because they haven't practiced reading and applying concepts in paragraph form. Each paper in this folder has 2 case-based questions. Use them for targeted practice.
Three Topics That Appear in Almost Every Paper

If there are three areas to absolutely nail before the boards, they are these:

1. Recombinant DNA Technology — Questions across every regional paper involve vectors (pBR322 with its antibiotic resistance markers, Ti plasmid from Agrobacterium), restriction endonucleases, ligase, gel electrophoresis, and elution. This topic alone can cover 8–10 marks if you know it thoroughly.

2. Ecology Concepts — Understanding the difference between GPP, NPP, and Respiration (R); knowing when a biomass pyramid inverts (aquatic ecosystems); and being able to explain in-situ vs. ex-situ conservation clearly. These appear in both short and long answer questions.

3. Human Reproductive Health & ART — Know the difference between GIFT, ZIFT, IUI, and ICSI. Questions also frequently ask about ideal characteristics of contraceptives and ethical concerns around ART. Very predictable, very scorable.

Region-wise Papers Available

The folder contains papers from: Hyderabad (2 sets), Chennai (question paper + answer key), Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Bhubaneswar, with more regions expected to be added. The Hyderabad folder has two distinct sets — Set 1 and Set 2 — making it particularly useful for back-to-back practice.

One thing worth noting: the Jaipur paper has a particularly strong set of assertion-reason questions that test conceptual clarity very well. If you find MCQs easy but assertion-reason tricky, start with that one.

How to Get the Most Out of These Papers

The best way to use these papers is not to simply read through them — it's to sit with one paper, set a 3-hour timer, and attempt it in exam-like conditions. Then use the Chennai answer key to score yourself. That one round of practice will tell you more about your preparation than a week of passive revision.

For Section A (MCQs and assertion-reason), go back to the NCERT text for any concept you got wrong. Biology MCQs at the board level are almost always directly traceable to a specific NCERT sentence or diagram. Section E long answers, on the other hand, reward students who write in structured points with proper biological terminology — so practice writing those out, not just thinking through them.

If you found this breakdown useful, share it with your study group. We'll be covering more subjects — Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and others — in the same format shortly.

Best of luck with your boards. You've got this.
